Acme was commissioned to design the creative campaign for Amplified Opera’s inaugural 2019 concert series entitled Amplify. Formed by two Toronto-based opera artists, this new opera/theatre company is focused on providing artists from equity-seeking groups a platform to tell their stories on their own terms. Working closely with company founders, Aria Umezawa and Teiya Kasahara, Acme developed a bold creative campaign featuring photos of the concert performers interpreting what it means to them to GET LOUD. Acme designed three unique posters for each of the three performances, each poster featuring one of the three collaborators behind each production. After the success of the Amplify series I worked with Aria and Teiya to develop a visual identity for Amplified Opera—The challenge was to design an identity that resonated with their commitment to equity-seeking groups while symbolizing innovation and breaking away from traditional opera conventions.
