Burn. Stef Lenk & Michael Barker. Super 8. 2006.
Super 8 transferred to digital, edited in Media 100. The second half of the film was shot with a super-8 camera I rented from the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (where I was working at the time) that had been modified so that you could advance the film manually. A hole had been cut in the side of the camera body and you could get a finger inside, hook a fingernail on the film advance gear, and advance the film (a little awkwardly and very slowly)—this produces the wonderful light streaking effect! I recorded the music on my old Tascam Portastudio four track and the “ooh ahhs” were made with a Casio SK1—I loved that little keyboard.
