Explosion in the Movie Machine: A crucial anthology for media artists and arts organizations in Toronto

I was commissioned by the Images Festival and the Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto to design Explosion in the Movie Machine. This anthology distributed by YYZ Books delves into Toronto’s media arts history and ecology, offering contemporary reflections, critical essays, historical documents, and visual documentation. The book explores the depth, brilliance, and contradictions of the city’s film and video arts, focusing on artists’ practices, organizations, and debates. It addresses key issues like censorship, festival significance, representation politics, and the film-video divide, making it an essential resource for artists, students, critics, and curators.
